on april 26, asia's first cylindrical floating, production, storage, and offloading (fpso) facility, "haikui no.1", constructed under the general contracting of cooec, was completed and delivered in qingdao, shandong province, marking a significant breakthrough in the independent design and construction of key technologies for deep-water oil and gas equipment in china.
"haikui no. 1" consists of a hull and upper functional modules, with a maximum diameter of about 90 meters and a height close to 30 stories. the facility composed of nearly 600,000 components has a total weight of approximately 37,000 tons. with a design displacement of 100,000 tons, a maximum storage capacity of 60,000 tons of oil, and a design life of 30 years, it is capable of operating for 15 years at sea without returning to dock.
to complete the construction of this facility, cooec leveraged its advantageous resources to overcome a series of technical challenges in the integrated system design of cylindrical floating production equipment, high-precision construction integration, and full-process digital commissioning. its construction cycle thus was shortened by nearly 50% compared to similar types of international equipment. moreover, its precision control reached the millimeter level, with a first-pass quality acceptance rate exceeding 99.8%, and excellent safety performance was achieved with 8 million accident-free work hours.
"haikui no.1" has made a breakthrough in achieving independent applications of 15 key technological devices, including an integrated land-sea intelligent central control system, a natural gas dual-tower desulfurization system, and high-capacity hydraulic submersible pumps. this facility also marks the first adoption of new types of natural gas desulfurization equipment and dual-fuel generators in china’s offshore platforms, which will enable the full utilization of associated gas from oil fields and effectively enhance the green and energy-saving levels of offshore oil fields.
being capable of processing approximately 5,600 tons of crude oil per day, "haikui no.1" will be towed to waters with a depth of up to 324 meters for connection after delivery. it will serve together with "haiji-2," asia's first deep-water jacket platform, in liuhua 11-1 oil field, china's first deep-water oil field. this innovative combination contributes china's first development model of "deep-water jacket platform cylindrical fpso," providing a new solution for the efficient development of deep-water oil and gas fields in china.
